Ms. Ava Lou Garrett, age 72, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after a lengthy illness. Ms. Garrett was born, December 3, 1940, in Prescott, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ava Shell Garrett. Ms. Garrett was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Masters Degree in Education, in English and History from Henderson State Teachers College, Arkadelphia, Arkansas and taught schools in Arkansas and Missouri. Ms. Garrett is survived by a sister Rebecca Garrett Cox and husband David of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a nephew Garrett Matthew Cox of Los Angeles, California. Visitation will be Monday August 5, 2013 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott, with burial to follow at 10:30am, at Harmony Cemetery, in Sutton, Arkansas with Rev.
