Mrs. Berniece Drake, age 101, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 in a local nursing home in Hope, AR. Mrs. Berniece was born February 6, 1919 in Yarnaby, OK to Owen Isham and Naomi Elizabeth Leatherwood Carpenter. She was the youngest child to her parents and grew up in Dallas, TX. She was an active member of Hope First Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Hempstead County Democratic Party, and served as an election judge well into her 90s.

Mrs. Berniece married Cordes P. Drake of Patmos, AR in 1950 as she worked as a senior clerk for AT&T. The couple lived in Dallas, TX and Albuquerque, NM before retiring to Hope in the early 1970s.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Cordes P. Drake, one son; William "Bill" Drake, one daughter; Carolyn Drake Kribs, husband, Fred, and her siblings.

Survivors include; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
