Mrs. Bertha Sams, age 87 of Emmet, Arkansas passed away, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on September 30, 1927 to Henry Wesley and Adlie Darkus Dunn Neugent. Mrs. Sams was a retired dietician for the Prescott Hospital in Prescott, Arkansas and she attended the Midway United Methodist Church in Prescott. She is a former member of the Hempstead County Extension Homemakers and the Hempstead County Cattlemen's Association. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed taking care of her family, because her family was the center of her life. Mrs. Sams is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John W. Sams, a brother; Bill Neugent, and two sisters; Ida Bell Fletcher and Vivian Jordan. Her survivors include; two sons; Carl Sams, wife, Alita of Prescott, Johnny Sams, wife, Robin of Emmet, four daughters; Betty Brantley of Prescott, Elaine Cross, husband, Gary of Hope, Carolyn Harper, husband, Larry of Prescott and Ida Goins of Emmet, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, other family member and friends. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home 1001 S Main in Hope. Funeral service will be, 2:00pm, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home 1001 S. Main Hope, Arkansas. Rev. Jim Teeter and Rev. Jerry Westmoreland will officiate the service.
