Betty Jo Wolfe Avery passed away on Wednesday, Nov 12, 2025 at the age of 95.

Born on July 18, 1930 to Henry and Euna Wolfe in Banks, Arkansas, Betty was the 8th of 10 children. She was a graduate of Banks High School, where she excelled, graduating as the class Valedictorian, as well as being the Editor of the school newspaper. After graduation, Betty attended Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans where she earned her degree in Nursing. Upon earning her degree in Nursing, Betty moved to Little Rock where she started her career at the VA Hospital. On her first day of her new job, she met her future husband, Dr Charles Avery, while in the elevator. They instantly fell in love and were married on August 2, 1953.

Betty attended First United Methodist Church where she held offices in the United Methodist Women night circle. She was also a member of the Rose Garden Club where she assisted in many beautification projects in Prescott. Flower arranging was what she loved most, winning many blue ribbons each year at the fair. Betty was also an avid bridge player, continuing to play until she lost the sight in her eyes. Betty's strengths were in her caregiving of family and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles Avery, her 6 brothers, Howard, Perry, Arthur, Jimmy, Robert and Buddy as well as her 3 sisters, Lois, Madge and Jeanette. She is survived by her children, Donna Devine (Richard) of Sherwood, David Avery (Nina) of Arkadelphia and James Edward Avery of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Stepahnie Fincher (Riley) of Texarkana, TX and Dana Rodriguez (Jon) of Sherwood and 4 great grandchildren, Landon and Lauren Fincher and Cruz and Maddox Rodriguez.

Betty is mourned with deep love and gratitude by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 16 at 2 pm at DeAnn cemetery, Prescott, Ar.
