Mr. Bill Scott, age 74 of Lewisville, TX, went to be with his Lord & Savior Thursday, August 23, 2012, at John Peter Smith Hospital, Fort Worth, TX. He was surrounded by his loved ones, special friends and a several church family members. He was born in Dallas, TX , at Methodist Central Hospital on December 29, 1937 to Walter Alfred and Dorothy Justine (Carter) Scott. He attended various schools in the Dallas area and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1956. He then continued his formal education graduating from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1960 achieving his 4-year degree in Psychology with a Christian focus, and later earned his Masters Degree in Criminology and Corrections at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. He and his wife, Paula, were married at Emmet United Methodist Church, Emmet, Arkansas, 46 years ago. They were always actively involved in the churches where God led them throughout their spiritual journey, connecting and supporting their church family as an extension of their own. Bill received many awards throughout his 30-year career with the Dallas County Juvenile Department where he retired as a supervisor over several units. He also served and enjoyed his time as a commander and ultimately served as an Outpost Commander of the Royal Rangers scouting program to reach, teach, and lead boys to Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. Scott and wife, Pauline; and Justine (Carter) Scott Bates and husband William C. Bill Bates, all lifelong residents in and around Dallas, and by a baby sister, Billie Jean Scott, who died at birth. Bill is survived by his wife, Paula Marie (Edwards) Scott, son Brent Edward Scott and wife Heather of Venus, TX; daughter Kimberly Anne Scott of Flower Mound, TX; four granddaughters, Chloe, Ella, Adeline, and Jewel Scott of Venus, TX. Three sisters Jackie Lou (Scott) Thompson of Seven Points, TX; Marilee (Scott) Crawford and husband, Larry of McKinney, TX; Lana Dale (Scott) Aberbach and husband Mark of Denton, TX, his loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and his many loved adopted children, and brothers and sisters in Christ he met during his 30 years at the Dallas Co. Juvenile Dept., during his more than 20 years in the Royal Rangers Ministry, and lastly during his time with the Celebrate Recovery program here in Lewisville, TX, where he has served and ministered for the past 7 years resulting in a full life of dedication and service to God.
