Mr. Billy Don Dougan, age 77, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away, Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope. He was born October 10, 1935, in Hope to Vick I. and Callie Williams Dougan. He was employed as a truck driver for over 50 years. Mr. Dougan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hope where he served as a Deacon for 45 years. He loved to camp, fish, and listen to Southern Gospel Music. He served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving a tour in Germany. Mr. Dougan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe V. Dougan. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Porterfield Dougan, a son Donnie Dougan of Hope, a daughter, Denise McNiel and husband Clayton of Emerson, Arkansas, two sisters, Virginia England of Hope and Linda Lear of Rodessa, Louisiana, four grandchildren, Krystal Goodwin, Krysti Dougan, Kourtney Sevenbergen and Brandi Myers, and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 31, at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope. Funeral service for Mr. Dougan will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 1, at the Brazzel/Oakcrest Chapel, Dr. Hal Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Ayers Cemetery in Hope.
