Bro. Raymond Hicks, 81 of the Caney Community passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs. Bro. Raymond was born, Friday, April 3, 1931 at Caney, Arkansas to Monroe Herman and Effie Ellen Green Hicks. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phena Glass Hicks, four brothers; Leo, Hilton, Bobby and Larry Hicks and three sisters; Nellie Callicott, Inez Callicott and Elsie Kale. Bro. Raymond was a member of Morris Baptist Church, a former pastor of the church and a Mason of the Laneburg Lodge. He had been a pastor for over 60 years and served as a missionary to Park Missionary Baptist Church and Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and to numerous other churches in Southwest Arkansas. He attended the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock, graduated from the Louisiana Missionary Baptist Institute in Minden, Louisiana and was a teacher of Homiletics. Bro. Raymond is survived by his two sons; Gary Hicks and wife, Loretta and Paul Hicks all of Caney, his daughter; Sandra Hicks Brown and husband, Dickey of Arkadelphia, a brother, Adron Dobber Hicks of Waterloo, his sister; Bonnie Haynes of McCaskill, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Bro. Raymond, 6:00 to 8:00pm, Friday, July 20 at Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott. Funeral service will be 11:00am, Saturday, July 21 at Morris Baptist Church in Caney, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Caney Cemetery, Caney, Arkansas. Bro. Doyle Glass, Rev. Jerry G.
