Mr. Charles Roy Charlie Smith, age 65, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his home in Hope. He was born August 18, 1947, in Hope to Albert and Cora England Smith. Mr. Smith was a former produce manager for Smittys Brother Grocery Company and was currently attending the Hope Church of Nazarene, but was of the Baptist faith. He served his country as a United States Marine serving in the Vietnam War. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a cowboy at heart, had a loving heart and loved to laugh. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Elmer, James, Rufus and Alfred Ray Smith, a sister Mildred Middlebrooks and a grandson Landon. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Terry Palmer Smith, two sons, William Griffith and wife Katheryn of Hope, Dustin Griffith and wife Melanie of Hope, five daughters, Stephanie Brown and husband Daniel, Jr. of Hope, Stacy Smith of Hope, Rebecca Edwards and husband Philip of Hope, Nathalie Tucker of Hope, Valerie Smith of Hope, three brothers, Howard Smith of Texarkana, Fred T. Smith of Magnolia, Tommy Smith of Hope, three sisters, Geneva Bowlin of Conway, Arkansas, Marie Harris of Magnolia, Arkansas, Virginia Mendenhall of El Dorado, Arkansas, ten grandchildren, numerous other family members and a host of friends. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 30, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Funeral service for Mr. Smith will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 1, at the Brazzel/Oakcrest Chapel, Bro.
