Mr. Cleophus "Red" Burton, 84 of Prescott, departed this life and went to be with the Lord, on Friday, April 9, 2010, during the early morning hours at Medical Park Hospital in Hope, Arkansas, surrounded by his family. He was truly a blessing and dearly loved by all. He was born January 19, 1926, the sixth of seven children, to Lemuel and Etta Penigar Burton. At the time of his death he was 84 years old. He attended school at Blevins Training School. Red accepted Christ at an early age. He loved to fish and squirrel hunt. He retired from Reynolds Metal Company in Gum Springs, Arkansas, after working for 32 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by three children: Cleotis Burton, Rodney Burton and Baby Burton; three brothers: Edward, James and Samuel "S.J." Burton; three sisters: Zenobie Miller, Annie Burton and Thelma Wilson. He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife of 65 years: Hazel McGill Burton. To this union, Ten Children were born, Three Sons: Carl Burton, North Little Rock, Ark., Charles Burton and Tina, Prescott, Ark., and Glenn Burton and Michelle, Prescott, Ark. Four Daughters: Myrtle Harris and Otis, Gracie Arnold and Doug, Deborah Armstrong and Willie, all of Texarkana, Ark.; and Gennetta Yarbrough and Terry, Prescott, Arkansas. Twenty Grandchildren, Twenty-Seven Great-Grandchildren and Four Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Prescott, Arkansas, with Rev. Curtis O. Dansby officiating.
