Coach Ed Reece, age 71 of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home in Gurdon. He was born December 11, 1948 in Eudora, Arkansas to Norvell Edward and Velma Sedberry Reece. He is a graduate of Eudora High School, graduated University of Arkansas at Monticello on an athletic scholarship. He is a member of Theta Xi and served in the US Marine Reserves as a Staff Sergeant. He was a coach and teacher from 1976 to his retirement in 2004, coaching at Helena/West Helena, Hamburg, Hermitage and Gurdon. He had served on the Gurdon School Board for four years and was voted Outstanding ASBA school board member, and a member of Beech Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed to deer hunt, squirrel hunt, loved spending time with his grandchildren and working hard.

Coach Reece is preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws; Carl and Mary Harrod.

Survivors include, his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Brenda Harrod Reece, son; Edward T. Reece and wife, Paige of Gurdon, their children: Dillon and Karly, daughter; Missy Worthington, husband Jay of Nashville, their children: Nancy and Reese, daughter Rachelle Smith, husband Jared of Russellville and their children: Jaxon, Gavin and Caroline and his brother Robert Reece.

The Reece Family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ed Reece Athletic Scholarship Fund at Southern Bank Corp.
