Dr. David G. Stevens, age 80, of Hope, Arkansas passed away at his home on Monday November 5, 2012. He was born December 13, 1931, in Gladewater, Texas to the late Clarence R. and Lena Josephine Stevens. Dr. Stevens received his B.A. degree from North Texas State College in Denton, Texas, his M.D. degree from Texas Medical Branch of Galveston, served his internship at Hermann Hospital in Houston where he later served as Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Later he became a Doctor of Radiology, settling in Hope to become one of the last true country doctors. He travel many miles day and night taking care of the radiological needs of many hospitals in Southwest Arkansas. Dr. Stevens was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hope and had a great love for horses and his beloved dogs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Janice Emery Stevens. Dr. Stevens is survived by a son, David Gordon Stevens, II of Dallas, Texas, three daughters, Shawn Marie Stevens of Bloomington, Indiana, Shannon Kay Boisson de Chazournes and husband Felix of Paris, France, and Sherry Stevens of San Diego, California, sister Nancy Stevens Vogel of Santa Monica, California, and three grandchildren, Brielle, Primrose and Emily Boisson de Chazournes. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday November 11, at the Stevens home located at #2 Gunter Lane, Hope. Funeral service for Dr. Stevens will be 10:00 am, Monday November 12, at the First Baptist Church of Hope, Bro. Mark Fischer officiating.
