MRS. DORA FRANCES GUNTER KING, age 93, of Hope, Arkansas died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Medical Park Hospital, Hope, Ark. She was born in McNeil, Arkansas, February 7, 1916, to James Alfred, Sr. and Emma Matilda ( Myrtle) Black Gunter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Frank King; one sister, Margaret Tate; two brothers, James A. Gunter, Jr. and Harold Gunter. HER SURVIVORS INCLUDE: Three Children: Dora Ann Purdy and Don, Nashville, TN.; John A. King, Hope, AR. and Peggy Bobbitt and Danny, San Antonio, TX; and Six Grandchildren, Alan Purdy and Renae, Nashville, TN; Lena Ross and Shane, Leesville, LA; Susan Purdy, Nashville, TN; Chris King, Hope, AR.; Amanda Beth Bobbitt, Anchorage, AK; and Emily Bobbitt, San Antonio, TX; One Step-Granddaughter, Sara Morris, Stephens, AR.; Six Great-Grandchildren and Three Nieces and Nephews and Numerous Cousins. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope, AR. for over 60 years and taught in the 3rd and 4th grade childrens department for 60+ years, served as church hostess and served on numerous committees, also; she was past president of the P.T.A and former school board member for the Hope Public Schools in the 1960's. Dora worked at the Southwest Proving Ground during World War II and was a former employee of the Graves and Graves Law Firm. FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2009, First Baptist Church, Hope, AR., with Rev. Earl Cumbie and Rev. Mark Fischer officiating.
