MR. ELLIS LALAN PERRYMAN, of Hope, Arkansas passed away just short of 83rd birthday, to be with Lord on October 27th at approximately 2:12 PM. Born November 6, 1925 to John M. and Minnie G. Chipman Perryman in Milford, Texas, he grew up in Hope, Arkansas. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy where he was sent to San Diego, California for amphibious training and assigned to the ship USS Oconto. During his training he was seriously injured spent six months in the hospital. Upon his release in September of 1944, his ship was commissioned as the auxiliary Personal Assault ship where he served duty from New Caledonia, Biak and Island chains north of Yokohoma and Kokkaido, Japan & Tientsin, China including Okinawa. The ship carried 20,000 troops. Mr. Perryman was Cox man-LCVP assigned to boat 22; he served his country with an honorable discharge and was a disable Veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by his parents and grandson; Shad. Mr. Perryman is survived by his loving wife Katherine of whom he was married for 64 years Son; Jack and wife Evelyn Perryman of Dallas, TX Daughter; Kristin Hiett and husband, Tommy of Dallas, TX Brother; Romiegene Perryman of Abilene, TX Sister; Nelva Collins of Hope and four grandchildren; Shona, Jennifer, Chasity and Jacklyn and seven great-grandchildren. He and his wife moved from Petaluma, California in 1980 where he worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He purchased 6 acres of land just south of Hope and built his home close to where he grew up. Mr. Perryman was a devoted member of the Hope Church of Christ. The family will receive friends Thursday evening October 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope. Funeral services are Friday, October 31, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home.
