Mr. Ernest Frederick Struckman, 99 of Fulton, Arkansas passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009, at his home. He was born in Indian Springs, California on August 30, 1909 to Henry Ernest Struckman of Oldenberg, Germany and Emma Stauffer Struckman of Taylor, Texas. He worked for the CCC as a young man before he started farming for himself. He cleared 400 acres in the Sierra Foothills where he raised, sheep, hogs and brown swiss cattle. He was a pilot who flew his own aircraft believing it would be the way of travel for everyone in the future. He owned a Grade A Dairy of registered brown swiss cattle and sold the milk in Sacramento. He raised approximately 30 thousand turkeys per year, grew his own pasture and irrigated over 200 acres. He eventually acquired over 1400 acres. In 1969, he moved to Fulton, Arkansas and began row-crop farming and raising beef cattle. He and his family were Hempstead County Farm Family of the year in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife( at that time of 61 years, Anabel Sanford Struckman, who died November 8, 2002; by two brothers, Walter and Henry Struckman; and by three sisters, Mary Brever, Anna Struckman and Martha Struckman. HIS SURVIVORS INCLUDE: Two Sons: Henry E. Struckman and Kathy, Fulton, Ark. Fred Struckman and Jane, Fulton, Ark. Three Daughters: Louise Struckman Burchett and Fred, Spokane, Wash. Mary Struckman Casper and Tom, Grass Valley, Calif. Diane Struckman Warren and Gil, Fulton, Ark. One Brother-In-Law: Glen Sanford, Auburn, Calif. Three Sister-In-Laws: Aileen Struckman, Penn Valley, Calif. Thelma Harris, Oregon. Delores Sanford, Grass Valley, Calif. Close Friends: Arnie Flanigan and Dru, Mineral Springs, Ark. Melvin Brown, Penn Valley, Calif. And Ten Grandchildren, Eighteen Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and friends. A GATHERING will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, at The Struckman Farm, 779 Hempstead # 1, Fulton, Ark. 71838. Burial will be later in California.
