Mr. Gerald D. Matherly went to meet the Lord at his home on April 6, 2015. He was born on July 17, 1948 in Brawley, California to the late John D. Matherly and the late Georgia Lathrop. Mr. Matherly was an avid gardener and he loved to hunt. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Union Baptist Church at Bodcaw. Survivors include; his wife of 48 years, Sharon Cole Matherly, of Bodcaw, Arkansas, one daughter, Dr. Laura Douglas and Jonathan Ryan of Hope, Arkansas, one son, Jason Matherly and wife, Jessica, of Troy, Tennessee, one sister, Juanita Murch of Bentonville, Arkansas, two brothers; Larry Matherly of Kansas City, Kansas, Harold Matherly and wife, Mary Ann, of Bodcaw, Arkansas, four beautiful grandchildren; Mandi Ramsey and spouse, Gray, of Hope, Arkansas, Kayla Douglas and Chris Locke of Conway, Arkansas, Canan Douglas of Hope, Arkansas, Olivia Matherly of Troy, Tennessee, and two fabulous great-grandchildren; Cole Ramsey and Lilli Ramsey of Hope, Arkansas, his mother-in-law; Verlene Cole of Waldo and a number of nieces, nephews, and other close family members and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral Service will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Union Baptist Church at Bodcaw with Bro. Joe Brown and Bro. Jerry Evans officiating. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery.
