Obituary

Mrs. Gertie Cottingham Meador, age 95, of Porter, Texas, formerly of Prescott, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, in Kingswood, Texas. She was born February 8, 1918, in Boughton, Arkansas, to Alanzo Jack and Lucy Defoore Cottingham. She was a former Clerk at the Western Auto Store in Prescott and a member of First Baptist Church of Prescott. She was a former member of the Prescott Garden Club and loved working with flower arrangements and entering them in the County Fair and flower shows. Mrs. Meador was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Claude Meador, three brothers, Floyd, Dave and Alanzo Cottingham, three sisters, Lillie Formby, Grace Tyree and Helen Harrison. Mrs. Meador is survived by a daughter, Claudia Kirk and husband Wayne of Porter, Texas, a sister, Dorothy Grimes of Prescott, three grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous other family members and a host of friends. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, May 10, at Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott. Funeral service for Mrs. Meador will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 11, at the Brazzel/Cornish Chapel, Bro. Frank Henson officiating. Burial will follow at DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott.
