Mrs. Gladys B. McRoy Stroud, age 84, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away, Sunday, November 23, 2014. Mrs. Stroud was born October 26, 1930, in Hope, Arkansas to Rubin E. and Lula Belle Oliver McRoy. Mrs. Stroud was a homemaker, a member First Assembly of God Church in Hope for over 50 years where she served as a past Sunday School Teacher and youth director, former owner/operator of Sam Stroud's Grocery and Candy Company for 30 years. Mrs. Stroud was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her favorite hobbies were her love of painting and poetry. Mrs. Stroud was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam Stroud, brothers, H.T., Taylor, Johnny and Orvil McRoy, sisters, Fern Downs, Georgia Mae McRoy, Fay Maddix, Oler Wills and Mercede Hatfield, granddaughter, Stephanie Stroud Butler. Mrs. Stroud is survived by her sons, Larry Stroud of Hope, Jerry Stroud and wife Debbie of Hope and David Stroud and wife Faye of Hope, special sister-in-law, Jean Stroud of Hope, special friend, Ethel Harmon of Hope, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Stroud will be 6:00 to 8:00pm, Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope. Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at First Assembly of God Church in Hope with Bro.
