Mr. Guy Nathaniel Thompson, 89, of Hope, formerly of Morrilton, died in Medical Park Hospital on February 5, 2011. He was born to Ernest Asbury Thomas and Ada Evelyn Permenter Thompson on August 30, 1921, in Oppelo, Arkansas. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Hope and a former member of First Baptist Church of Morrilton, where he was a deacon and Mission Friends teacher. He worked with the Nail Benders building the First Baptist Church of Center Ridge, Arkansas. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic and was a retired rural mail carrier. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ernestine Williams. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Mary Nelle Black Thompson of Hope; one daughter and son-in-law, Associate Justice Jim and Judee Gunter of Hope; one grandson, Guy Royston of Hope; and one sister, Pat Dougherty of California. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton. Online guestbook: www.harrisfuneralhomes.net
