Mrs. Hilda M. Faulk, 83 of Washington, Arkansas passed away, Sunday, February 5, 2012 in Nashville, Arkansas. She was born May 15, 1928 in Greene County, Arkansas, one of 14 children born to Mack and Felsie McNutt Pillow. She was part of a large and extended farming family, living through the Great Depression of the 1930s and World War II. During high school she enjoyed playing for her high school softball team. In 1946 she married, Doyle A. Faulk, Sr., a World War II Veteran and they lived in Northeastern Arkansas. There she gave birth to 6 of her 8 children, including a set of twin boys. When she and Doyle relocated to Montclair, California from 1955 to 1977 she had two more children and they raised a family of 4 boys and 4 girls. She is preceded in death by her husband and son, Mark Faulk. She trained for and enjoyed a career as a C.N.A. at Pomona Valley Hospital in Pomona, California where she worked tirelessly taking care of others. She also had a job as a trained donut maker and a trained meat cutter for Alpha Beta Supermarket early in her marriage to supplement the income Doyle received as an Operating Engineer. At that time she was a member of Montclair Christian Church for many years. After retiring to Old Washington, Arkansas in 1977 she enjoyed the country life and was a hard worker taking care of family and friends over the years keeping the Lord foremost in her life and attending church in and around Hempstead County. She proved you can take the girl out of country, but not the country out of the girl. She had many hobbies as a retired homemaker including good home-style cooking, baking pies, canning, flower gardening, quilting, crocheting, sewing, growing her own vegetables, raising peacocks, chickens, rabbits and various other animals. Hilda enjoyed many good friends in and around Hempstead County for 35 years, after settling into a country lifestyle in Old Washington that had been her dream for many years. She is survived by three sons; George Faulk and wife, Robin of Yakima, California, Clark Faulk of Victorville, California and Doyle Faulk, Jr. of Hope, her daughters, Connie Weir of Claremont, California, Alice Wiebe and husband, Greg of Upland, California, Marcella Hall and husband, Jim of Fontana, California and Jennifer Wolfinbarger and husband, Tim of Fontana, California, sister, Dora Humphries of St. Louis, Missouri, 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives living throughout the United States. Hilda had two grandsons who served in the military as Marines, Robert and Raymond Faulk. Mrs. Faulks last few years on her farm in Old Washington proved to be to much for her to maintain after the death of her husband and she eventually took respite at Nashville Nursing and Rehab in Nashville, Arkansas during a time of declining health. The Faulk Family will receive friends, 2:00 to 4:00pm, on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope. Graveside service and burial for Mrs. Faulk will be 2:00pm, Monday, February 13, 2012 in Old Washington Cemetery in Historic Old Washington, Arkansas. Bro. Keenan Williams will officiate the service.
