Obituary

Mr. Homer Hudson Avery, age 88 of Texarkana, Arkansas, formerly of Blevins, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Mr. Avery was born January 9, 1927 in Prescott, Arkansas to Johnny and Ora Miller Avery. He was a retired Warehouse Supervisor for Howards, a Methodist, a US Army Veteran serving during World War II, an avid pilot that flew during the service and later trained pilots for military service and also, worked as a crop duster pilot. He was also known as "Mr. Fix-it". A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Avery is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucille Bonds Avery, his brothers; Raymond, J.D., Elvin and Billy Don Avery, his sisters; Gladys Bumpers and Cleo McBrayer and son-in-law; Barry Wayne Bennett.

Survivors include; a daughter; Glenna Bennett of Texarkana, Texas, two grandchildren: Chris Bennett, wife Mystee of Texarkana, TX, and Erin Bennett and fiancé; Troy Watson of Texarkana, AR, seven great-grandchildren: Madison, Aidyn, Presley, Stormee and Krockett Bennett, Zack and Jullen Watson, several nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Avery will be Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at BRAZZEL/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Graveside service is 2:00pm, on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Marlbrook Cemetery near Blevins, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial to follow. Arrangements by BRAZZEL/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott, Eddie BRAZZEL, Director.
