MR. HOWARD TURNER GARNER, 90, Spring Hill, Arkansas, passed away Monday, November 10, at Medical Park Hospital, Hope, Ark. He was born in Spring Hill, Ark., on September 15, 1918, to Walter and Rosa Turner Garner. He worked in a Civilian Conservation Camp in Eli, Nevada; worked for the Foley Pottery Shop in Spring Hill; worked for McDowell Cotton Gin in Spring Hill; Southwest Proving Grounds in Hope; and then Bruner Ivory Handle Mill, which he retired as foreman after 30 years of service. He was and avid fisherman and hunter. He will long be remembered for his purple hull peas and his wonderful tomatoes. He loved to care for his Martins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Ree Susie McDowell Garner, parents; by one brother, Hugh Garner; and by three sisters, Merele Brown, Swan Smith and Mildred Clark. Survivors include; Five sons; Larry Garner and Gayle, Hope, Ark. Lane Garner and Corinne, Rosston, Ark. Roy Garner and Shirley, Blanchard, LA Ronnie Garner and Annette, Benton, Ark. Montie Garner and Donna, Hope, Ark Two Daughters: Marsha Cochran and Donald, Mayflower, Ark. Shelia Griffin and Bill, Hope, Ark. And Fifteen Grandchildren, Twenty-One Great-Grandchildren, Five Great-Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Huckabee Cemetery, Spring Hill, Ark., with Rev. Jerry Evans and Rev. Andy Hawkins officiating. Burial to follow.
