Mrs. Iris Jean Byers Bohanon, age 81 of Hope, passed away, Sunday, April 17, 2016. Mrs. Bohanon was born in Patmos, Arkansas on January 3, 1935 to Orie and Opal Inez Davis Byers. She was a retired insurance agent, a longtime member of Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Bohanon was one of the first two women in the United States to be a regional manager for AFLAC. Her favorite hobby was collecting and selling antiques. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Raymond and Jimmy Byers, and a sister, Juanita Byers.

Survivors include, two sons; Alan Bohanon of Hope, John Bohanon of Little Rock, a daughter; Dana Lockard of Allen, TX, three brothers; Dorsey Byers, wife, Nancy of Calhoun, LA, Jerry Byers, wife, Betty of Villages, FL, and Dubs Byers, wife, Jane of Gould, AR, two sisters; Laveta Norris of Lake Charles, LA, and Sandra Massanelli, husband, Vic of Hope, two grandchildren; Jonathan Lockard and Mandy McLelland, two great-grandchildren; Scarlett McLelland and Barrett McLelland , a very close family friend; Steve Paxton, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation, 6:00 to 8:00pm, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home 1001 S. Main Hope, AR.

Funeral service, 2:00pm, Friday, April 22, 2016 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home with Dr. William "Dubs" Byers officiating. Burial will follow in Shover Springs Cemetery.
