Mrs. Iris Nell Coffee Joiner, age 90 of Shreveport, LA, formerly of Hope, AR, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 in Grapevine, TX. Mrs. Iris was born on October 12, 1929 in Hope, AR to Carl and Trula Duke Coffee. Having nine siblings, she devoted her time to helping raise her younger siblings. She attended Hope High School, where she was a member of Glee Club before graduating in 1948. After graduating, she quickly followed her sister, Colleen Coffee, to Shreveport, LA where she married Shreveport detective, Jerry Joiner. Mrs. Iris was a part of the communication revolution; she began her career at the telephone company in Hope, then moving on to working for Bell South in Shreveport, LA for over 30 years. She left Bell South to pursue her career as an operator, working her way up to training and supervising colleagues on the latest technology. Following her retirement, she worked for Hannah & Wray Ford. Mrs. Iris was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral; she loved singing in the choir, baking to raise money for their trips, visiting shut ins and her Sunday School class. She was a benevolent giver to her community and family. She was a remarkable role model and all that knew her were blessed with love and laughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Jack Coffee, Dee Coffee, six sisters; Melba Price, Muriel Bailiff, Jodie Perkins, Colleen Coffee, and Joy Stubblefield.

Survivors include one sister; Alice Coffee Benson of Roanoke, TX, one sister-in-law; Mary Coffee of Hope, AR, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved and adored her.

Graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Memory Gardens in Hope, AR with Rusty Perkins officiating.
