Mrs. Isabelle Starnes, age 93 of Prescott, passed away, Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Hope. Mrs. Starnes was born February 3, 1922 in Dallas, North Carolina to Zeb and Sidnie Abernathy Ratchford. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband of 28 years, William Hal Ford, her second husband of 27 years, Gurney Starnes and her three brothers; : James Kenneth Ratchford, John Winfield Ratchford, and Floyd Nel Ratchford. Isabel was always extremely proud of her family and was always encouraging each and every one of us to always take care of ourselves and achieve everything that was possible to achieve. Isabel was an active member of her community and had several associations that were near and dear to her heart such as the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the United Methodist Women (UMW). Survivors include her son; Kenneth Ford, wife, Barbara of Bessemer City, North Carolina, her daughter; Janet Hood, husband, John of Prescott and four grandchildren, other family members and friends. Memorials should be sent to Concord United Methodist Church in Bessemer City, North Carolina or to Landers Chapel United Methodist Church, Lincolnton, North Carolina. Visitation will be Saturday, February 21st, 2015 from 10:00-11:00am at the Concord United Methodist Church in Bessemer City, North Carolina. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00am.
