Mr. J.T. Honeycutt, age 87; of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010; in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mr. J. T. was born April 28, 1923, in DeAnn, Arkansas, to Odus and Ivy Ruth Prince Honeycutt. He graduated from St. Louis College of Mortuary Science, St.Louis, Missouri and received his License from the Arkansas State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers on August 14, 1949 and became a Licensed Funeral Director in 1957. He then went to work in Fordyce for Benton Funeral Home; then onto Herndon-Cornelius Funeral Home, Hope and later for The Brazzel Funeral Homes in both Hope and Prescott until his health forced him into retirement. He was a former Hempstead County Coroner, having served for 26 years; a member of First United Methodist Church, Hope and the Century Bible Class; former member of the Hope Lions Club and a World War II Veteran having served in the 153rd Infantry. He enjoyed fishing and vacationing with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and by three sisters, Margaret Reed, Verda Mae Virden and Sue Staner. HIS SURVIVORS INCLUDE: HIS WIFE (of 66 Years) Edith Sooter Honeycutt, Hope, Arkansas ONE SON: Dr. John Honeycutt and Ann, Paragould, Arkansas ONE DAUGHTER: Betty Ruth Honeycutt Welch and Jerry, Little Rock,Arkansas. One Brother: Ray Honeycutt, Hope, Arkansas One Sister: Oveta Kennedy, Dallas, Texas. Three Grandchildren: Dr. John Honeycutt, JR. and Shannon, Fort Worth, TX. Josh Honeycutt and Danielle, Paragould, Ark. Amanda Sarver and Nicholas, Hot Springs Village, Ark. And Six Great-Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel, Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. Keenan Williams officiating.
