Bro. James L. Purtle, age 80, of Emmet, Arkansas, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott, Arkansas. He was born December 10, 1932, in Cale, Arkansas, to Hesterly and Opal Jordan Purtle. Bro. Purtle was a retired cattle and poultry farmer and Baptist Minister. He was a member of the Bluff Springs Baptist Church. He served his country as a member of the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later joined the Arkansas National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Junior Purtle and Jakie Purtle. Bro. Purtle is survived by three sons, Rowdy Purtle and wife Kay of Bluff Springs, Arkansas, John Purtle and wife Rebel of Prescott, Arkansas, and Phillip Purtle of Texarkana, Texas, two sisters, Mary June Garner of Little Rock, Arkansas and Pat Porter of Artesia, New Mexico, two sister-in-laws, Irma Sue Purtle and Bennie Purtle both of Sutton, Arkansas, twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 6, at Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott. Funeral service for Bro. Purtle will be 10:00 am, Thursday, March 7, at Bluff Springs Baptist Church, Rosston, Arkansas, Rev. Donnie Dillard and Bro Neil Ridling officiating.
