James "Matt" Madison Schroader IV, 64, of Blevins, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, surrounded by his family. Born on September 14, 1961, in Santa Ana, California, he was the beloved son of Jim and Velvie (DeArman) Schroader of Patmos, Arkansas.

James is survived by his wife and love of his life of 45 years, Sherry Lynne (Myers) Schroader; their two children, Brandon Schroader and wife Jessica of Nashville, Arkansas, and Shelby Mavis and husband Damein of Blevins, Arkansas; his precious grandchildren Westyn and Karsyn Schroader of Nashville, and Ashlynn, Cara, and Lexa Mavis of Blevins. He is also survived by his sister Debbie Buffington and husband Donald of Patmos, Arkansas, along with several nieces, nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Velvie Schroader, and his sister, Monica Schroader, all of Patmos, Arkansas.

James proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, where he worked as a Gunner's Mate and retired as a Master-at-Arms First Class Petty Officer. Following his military career, he worked as a general contractor and ROV operator. He truly was a "jack of all trades." He often said, "There's nothing we could break bad enough that I couldn't fix," even though there were a few times we got close to it.

In his retirement, James found his greatest joy in being the best "Pawpaw" to his grandbabies. Whether it was spending the day at the ball field, teaching them how to work on something, taking them fishing, or spoiling them with countless bowls of ice cream, he cherished every moment with them.

James was a devoted husband, father, and Pawpaw. He loved his family deeply and was always there whenever they—or anyone else—needed him. Known for his kind heart and willingness to help others, he made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was a proud member of the Andrew Chapel No. 377 Masonic Lodge in Meridian, Mississippi. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, where he was honored to be able to help others through his participation in the GriefShare ministry.

His generosity and compassion continued even after his passing, as he gave the ultimate gift through organ donation.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Nick Flowers and Bro. Jay Pollan officiating.
