James T. Richey, also known as Jimmy to most, Weasel to some from his wild child years, and Pop to his favorites, left this mess of a world on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at the age of 69 after fighting chronic pain and illness in Texarkana, TX. Jimmy's birth certificate states he was born on October 28, 1950, but his birthday is actually October 27th according to his Mama so it was celebrated on that day every year. He grew up in the Dallas, TX, area until his teenage years when his family moved back to their hometown roots of Prescott, AR. He met and married his true love Deborah Richey and were married 47 years up until his death. Jimmy worked construction for several years traveling and then decided to get a job where he could be home daily after having one son, Shawn and one daughter, Amy. He worked at Firestone for 28 years in the maintenance department until his body forced him into early retirement from kidney failure, having to go on dialysis. That became his final fulltime job. When you think of someone being a "character" James Richey definitely comes to mind. He was one of a kind for sure. Jimmy had a strong, honest, personality so once you met him you decided real quick that either you liked him or you didn't. And he was perfectly fine with that one way or the other. In his spare time after retirement he found a new passion called Facebook. This was his outlet to still express himself while being at home most of the time. He really got tickled when he would step on people's toes and they would unfollow him because he was never afraid to express his true feelings on social media. Jimmy was a fighter by nature and that is exactly what he spent the last month of his life doing. He wasn't ready to leave his family and friends, but God had other plans for him and he finally took comfort in getting to go to his final resting place above. Heaven gained another angel and we sure hope he doesn't stir up too much trouble up there, because Lord knows he had a mouth on him! He is already greatly missed by all here he left behind.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Mary Lou Wise Richey, one sister; Mary Ann.

He is survived by his wife Deborah, his son Shawn, daughter-in-law Shonda, daughter Amy, and son-in-law Courtney Mixon. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren whom he adored beyond measure Trey, Jacobi, Trayvon, Tyler, Courtland, Ian, and Kendall.

James' final request was to be cremated and the family would like to honor that at a later time. Due to COVID-19, the family has decided to not have a public service. A memorial video tribute will be on James' Facebook page in the near future.
