Mr. Jerry Don Childers, age 69 of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away, Monday, April 14, 2014. Mr. Childers was born on July 23, 1944 in Prescott, Arkansas to Herman D. and Clara E. Anderson Childers. Jerry Don was a retired music teacher for Gurdon Public Schools. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, were he volunteered as the Music Director. Jerry Don enjoyed playing and practicing on his piano, spending time at White Oak Lake, were he could be found playing bridge with friends or just sitting around his bond fire with friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Tommie Rhodes. Jerry Don is survived by his wife, Patricia Rhodes Childers of Gurdon, his brother; Joe Childers, wife, Melynda of Sherwood, his sister; Glenda Tipton, husband, Jack of North Little Rock, his father-in-law, Lymon Rhodes, sister-in-law, Carolyn Rhodes and brother-in-law, Jackie Rhodes and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Visitation will be, Thursday, April 17, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Choir 2nd and Walnut Gurdon, AR 71743. Funeral service, 2:00pm, at First United Methodist Church in Gurdon with Rev.
