Obituary

Mr. Jesse DeVaughn "J. D." Samuels, 90, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Medical Park Hospital. He was born February 11, 1920, in Hempstead County, Arkansas, to Jesse James and Elizabeth Cummins Samuels. He was a retired rural postal carrier and a member of Unity Baptist Church of Hope. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Dorothy OSteen Samuels; one son, Billy Joe Samuels; two brothers, Horace and Kenneth Samuels; and three daughters, Joyce Houser, Sybil Parsons and Udell Lloyd. HIS SURVIVORS INCLUDE: ONE SON: J.D. Samuels and Helen, DeAnn, Ark. ONE DAUGHTER: Judy Samuels Jones and Jeff, Hot Springs Village, Ark. ONE BROTHER: Jack Wendell Samuels, Dallas, TX. ONE SISTER: Patsy Ann Adams, Hope, Ark. THREE GRANDSONS: Jim Samuels, Glenwood, Ark. Greg Samuels, Spring Hill, Ark. Trent Jones, Hot Springs Village, Ark. ONE GRANDDAUGHTER: Jenee Jones Clayton, Texarkana, Ark. And numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICE will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2010, Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel, Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. John Nations officiating. Burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Hope, Ark. Arrangements by BRAZZEL/Oakcrest The Funeral Home, Hope, Ark.
