Mrs. Jo Ann Brown, 68 of Hope, Arkansas passed away, Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born November 29, 1942 in Hope, Arkansas to Cecil and Corinne Flowers Kidd. Jo Ann graduated from Hope High School in 1960. She attended Central Baptist College for a short time after which she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for twelve and a half years. She was employed at both nursing homes in Hope as a social activities director and assistants administrator until she retired in 2005. She later found a lot of enjoyment in looking after Britney Baker for her neighbors Jeff and Jennifer Baker. She was a life long member of Unity Baptist Church where she was active in AWANA, the choir and the WMA. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gilbert L. Brown, Jr. and three children, Ginger Brown of North Palm Beach, Florida, Buffie Brown-Gilchrist of Newport News, Virginia and Les Brown of Nashville, Arkansas, two grandchildren; Alex Roberts of Arkadelphia, and Beau Brown of Hot Springs, brother, Rev. Jerry D. Kidd and wife, Sue and family of Bryant. She is also survived by numerous relatives of the Kidd and Flowers Families and many special friends. The Brown Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the BMA Department of Missions, International Missions, 9219 Sibley Hole Road, Little Rock, AR 72209. Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Thursday, at Unity Baptist Church in Hope, with Bro. Glen Tropp and Rev. Jerry Kidd will officate the service.
