John (Johnny) W. Joy, age 80, of Hope, AR passed away on August 6, 2023 at his home in Hope, AR.

Johnny was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Hope. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Hope Public Schools.

Johnny is survived by his wife Melba of 22 years, one brother Bob Joy (Teresa) of Marlow, OK, sons Vonnie Joy (Desiree) of Hot Springs, AR, Chuck Stephens (Belinda) of Mayflower, AR, Tony Stephens (Popo) of Katy, TX, daughters Jana Joy of Texas, and Suzy Powell (Rusty) of Hope, AR, grandchildren Whitney Walston of Alvin, TX, Erin Avants (Mike) of Texas, Brandy Schlomer (Christopher) of Alvin, TX, Cheyenne Joy of Hot Springs, AR, Heather Joy of Hot Springs, AR, TJ Stephens of Georgetown, TX, Maegan Acayan (Philip) of Richmond, TX, Nick Stephens (Marilyn) of Richmond, TX, Kristina Ward of Camden, AR, Matthew Stephens of Illinois, Brooke Lampkin (Josh) of Camden, AR, Bradey Powell of Hope, AR, Cooper Stephens of Katy, TX, and as Papaw referred to him "his favorite" Dawson Calhoun, of Hope, AR, and 17 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Melvin C Joy and Eva Irene Thompson, brothers Clifton Joy, James Joy, David Joy, and one sister Elizabeth Waller.
