It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Charles Mohon, 86, of Emmet,
Arkansas on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Johnny was a resident of Heather Manor Nursing &
Rehabilitation Center in Hope, AR and had been lovingly cared for by the excellent staff of
Gentiva Hospice of Arkansas and Heather Manor.

Johnny was born on July 15, 1939 to parents John Wesley and E. Pearl (Cook) Mohon in Waldo,
AR. In 1951, the Mohon family moved to Bay City, Texas where, in 1957, Johnny graduated from
Bay City High School. Shortly after graduation, he met the love of his life, Wilma Claudene
Curtner and in October 1959 John and Wilma were married. In the next 8 years, Johnny and
Wilma became parents of 5 beautiful children and proudly were married for 66 years.

Almost as much as he loved being a father, Johnny loved working on machines. He became a
Master Machinist and proudly worked and provided for his large family. In 1995, he retired
after working over 19 years with Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas. After his
retirement, he dreamed of moving back to Arkansas and discovered his parents' home was
available back in Emmet. Johnny enjoyed everything about living in Arkansas. He loved
gardening, sharing his bounty with friends and neighbors. Johnny and Wilma were members of
the First United Methodist Church and later attended the First Baptist Church of Emmet until his
health started to decline.

Johnny achieved many things in his life and one of the most valued accomplishments was
joining the Masonic Lodge of Sweeny, Texas where he achieved the level of Worshipful Master
and being a Paw Paw of 19 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Johnny, was never really surprised at what might come from his colorful
words of wisdom. The most memorable being "If I tell you a rooster can plow a field, you just
hook him up", and he always said "he could work 10 hours longer than anyone could stand to
pay him".

He was a lot of things, but he would mostly want to be remembered as a loving husband, a
proud father and the funniest paw paw.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John Wesley Mohon and Eunie Pearl (Cook)
Mohon, Sisters Vivian Brooks (Harold), Carolyn Jones (Bill), Brother Wayne Mohon (Joyce) and
Son-in-Law, Jay Solomon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Mohon. Children, Melissa Hayes (Joel), Melanie
Solomon, John W Mohon (Julie), Karen Land (Harvey) and Mike Mohon (Kim). Grandchildren,
Zack Hayes (Brittany), Russel Hayes, Sarah Hayes , Joey Bender (Jessica), Katy Montes-Garcia
(Marvin), Jason Solomon (Sara), Lucas Mohon (Makenzie), Dalton Mohon, Adam Kroupa, Claire
Kroupa (Shiloh), Trilby Land (Jeff), Hannah Land, Ellie Mohon (Bryceson), Audrey Bioletto
(Tristan), Kiley Mohon, Karley Mohon, Amanda Wilhelm, Breanna Wilhelm (Drew), Caden
Wilhelm (Rachel). And 10 beautiful great -grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Snell Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home.

I was born in a machine shop,

Raised with a lathe,

Cuttin' iron is all I crave,

When I die don't bury me at all,

Just tack my bones on a machine shop wall.
