Obituary

Mr. Johnie Lee McCorkle, 91, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Heather Manor Nursing and Rehab, Hope, Arkansas. He was born in Columbus, Arkansas on February 10, 1918, to Edward and Lula Fincher McCorkle. He was a retired foreman and saw operator from Bruner Ivory Handle Mill Company of Hope, Ark. for 40 years. He was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church, Hope, Ark. and he sang in their choir. He was an avid gardener and loved working on and repairing lawn mowers and small engines. He was preceded in death by his parents; by six brothers, Lee, Hallar, Oscar, Claude, Floyd, and James Thomas; and by three sisters, Viola Lamb, Margaret Sumpter and Mildred Duke. HIS SURVIVORS INCLUDE: His Wife: (of 68 1/2 years) Anna Boyett McCorkle, Hope, Ark. Two Daughters: Polly Langley and Bob, Tyler, Texas. Peggy Floyd, Olive Branch, MS. One Sister: Sally Chambless and Herbert, DeAnn, Ark. Two Grandchildren:Todd Langley, Columbus, Ohio. Dawne Langley, Tyler, Texas. One Great-Granddaughter: Kerbie Langley, Tyler, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews and friends. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2009, First Baptist Church, Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. Mark Fischer and Rev. Earl Cumbie officiating. Private burial was held. Arrangements by BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope, Ark. FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS: Sunday, March 15, 2009, immediately following the service.
