Mr. Joseph Ruskin Shaw, 91, died at Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope, Arkansas on Thursday, June 05, 2008. He was born in Boone County, Indiana on July 7, 1917 to William Franklin and Helen Mary Hardy Shaw. He was preceded in death by his wife Delora Fay Shaw, his first wife Zula Shaw and daughter Virginia Shaw Miller of Malvern, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Zionsville (Indiana) High School in 1935 where he lettered in basketball. He worked for Trunkline Gas Company as a pumping plant supervisor for more than 35 years before retiring to Pollock, La. He was a 67 year member and 32nd degree Mason, of the Zion Masonic Lodge of Zionsville, Indiana, and a 50 year member of the Quincy Masonic Consistory of Quincy, Illinois. In 1989 , moved to Hope where he distinguished himself as an active community citizen. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hope, Ar., an active member of the Hope Golden K service club where he was honored as the George F. Hickson Award recipient for exemplary service, a member of the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council, and a frequent volunteer for various community service events. He is survived by two stepsons: Michael Malek and Deborah of Hope, Arkansas, and Jerome Malek and Sharon of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren: Robb Miller and Jeannie of Mt. Airy, Maryland and Jennifer Albany and Chris of Wayne, Pennsylvania, and six step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Hwy. 67 W, Hope, Arkansas, Rev. Earl Cumbie officiating. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope, Ark. Family will receive friends: Friday, June 6, 2008, from 5:00 p.m., at the home of Michael and Deborah Malek, 1115 Fox Run, Hope, Arkansas.
