Mrs. Karen Colleen KC Coopwood, Houston, TX., whom forever blessed the world with her love for life, compassionate heart, genuine charm, and unforgettable smile, died of cancer on Sunday, the 9th of March, 2008, at the age of 47 years old, at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. KC was born on the 4th of February 1961 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to surviving parents, Herman Boltjes of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Betty Gillmor of Houston, Texas. Although born in the city of Kalamazoo, KC was a country girl at heart and right at home in Texas. She came to Houston in 1981 looking for new career opportunities. After various jobs in real estate management and other ventures she found her niche in 1989 at Landmark Graphics where she served in several customer relations and marketing roles. In 1999 she joined Houston-based BMC Software as a Senior Product Marketing Specialist. Upon recognizing KCs natural, fun-loving personality, BMC named her Senior Customer Relationship Manager. In the role, KC managed the companys marketing relationship with PGA player Jesper Parnevick, for whom she organized key customer events at various venues from Palm Springs to Scotland. KC also managed a key customer advisory board and was consistently recognized for her keen ability to secure maximum attendance. Like so many others, BMC customers adored her. She loved everything Lone Star "the outdoors, fishing, arrowhead hunting and spending weekends with her husband and soul mate of 20 years, Michael, at their place on Lake Livingston with extended family and friends. She loved traveling and gardening; regularly canning peaches, peas and other vegetables that were enjoyed by family and friends. As a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, she enthusiastically served many years in support of the Rodeos Arabian Horse Committee. KC was an incredibly giving person and always welcomed the chance to entertain family, friends and co-workers. She was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, enjoyed decorating and possessed a unique knack for finding bargains. KCs precious, energetic spirit and ease in which she endeared herself to others will always inspire joy and warmth in every remembrance of this Angel who walked among us. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Kent Coopwood; stepdaughter, Kimberly Michelle Coopwood and stepson Michael Kent Coopwood II and his wife Kimberly Dawn, and one very special grandson, Michael Kent Trey Coopwood III; brothers, Charles Boltjes and his wife Pam of Jackson, Michigan, and Jeffrey Boltjes of New Whitefield, Indiana; sister, Jane Perry and her husband Mark of Plainwell, Michigan; step-mother, Nancy Boltjes; step-sister, Renonda Elrod of Portage, Michigan: step-brother, Ron Edwards of Florida; brother-in-law, Bobby Coopwood and his wife Reba of Camden, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Myrick and her husband Rev. Kenneth Myrick of Houston, Linda Robinson of Palestine, Texas, Donna Greensage and her husband Roy of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews, and her rambunctious little companion Ranger, her King Charles Cavalier. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six oclock until eight oclock in the evening on Tuesday, the 11th of March 2008 in the Parlor of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. A funeral service will be conducted at one oclock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 12th of March 2008, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where the Rev. James Moore and Rev., Kenneth Myrick will serve as officiants. GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Macedonia Cemetery, Blevins, Ark.
