Mr. James "Larry" Williams, 75, of Caney, AR passed away Tuesday, July 30th in his home. Larry was born on January 9th, 1949, in Prescott, AR to James and Marvell Williams.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, metal detecting,looking for arrowheads, treasure hunting, and just being outside in general. He loved splitting his time between the Antoine river and White Oak lake, specifically at "The old folks hole". He had a passion for good cigars and good beer. He was a master chef when it came to grilling and had all the tricks for the best steaks and pretty much anything on the grill. Along with all of this he was also a lover of classic country music and big band swing music. He shared the love for all of these things with his family and really just anyone that would listen to him tell a story. Larry had a big personality and an infectious laugh. He was a jokester that loved to make people laugh and his presence left a lasting impression. He rarely found a subject that he didn't voice his opinion about, good or bad.
He was a retired salesman that could sell just about anything. He was a proud Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran, serving two tours from 1967-1970 with the 1st Marine Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Marvell Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years Sharon Williams of Caney, Arkansas; His son Jamie Williams (Monica) of Bryant Arkansas. Daughters Beth Poindexter (Andrew) of Hope Arkansas; Emily Snelgrove (Blake) of Nashville, Arkansas; Step-daughter Ashley Malone (Monty), of Prescott, Arkansas. One brother, Ronnie Williams (Carol) of Prescott Arkansas, and one sister, Pamela Williams Stutz of Springhill Louisiana.
He is also survived by 3 grandsons; Austin Williams and Bryer Malone and Huckson Poindexter. 5 granddaughters Autumn Malone, Madi Sue Williams, Sarah Poindexter, Magnolia Snelgrove and Kora Snelgrove and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, August 5th from 1pm-2pm at the Brazzel/Cornish in Prescott. With a funeral immediately following visitation Monday, August 5th at 2pm at the Brazzel/Cornish with Bro. Neil Ridling officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations being made to White Oak State Park - 563 Highway 387, Bluff City, AR 71722
