Mrs. Lena Massingill, age 86 of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015, in Texarkana, Texas. Mrs. Massingill was born July 17, 1929 to the late Clarence Clover and Mary Mae Alexander in Hico, Texas. Mrs. Massingill is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Bob Massingill, her son, Foy Dale Massingill, four brothers; Charles Clover, Harvey Clover, Weldon Clover, Hershel Clover, and one sister, Wanda Clover Breazeale. She was the oldest of six children and grew up in Central Texas during the Depression. She accepted Jesus as her Savior in her early teens and was still growing in the Lord. From September through December of this past year, she was enrolled in the Faith Bible Institute and enjoyed it immensely. Mrs. Massingill was the heart of her home and a wonderful homemaker. She was active in Extension Home Makers and loved to serve in her church. She was a core member of the Master's Builder Program along with her husband, Bob, and they enjoyed traveling and assisting churches and missions to build and grow. The Ladies W.M.A. group was a special place that she could serve and attended that meeting on Tuesday night before she fell Thursday and broke her hip. Her family has always been important to her and she will be missed by those she left behind, but enjoyed a wonderful meeting with her Savior and those that have gone ahead. Mrs. Massingill is survived by her daughter, Glenda Burkham and son-in-law, Wesley, of Hope, Arkansas, granddaughter; Paige M. Burkham Ray, husband, Ryan, of Rogers, Arkansas, grandson, Cody Burkham of Washington D.C., fourteen nieces and nephews, and numerous grand-nieces and nephews, many friends, and her church family at Unity Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00pm, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home. Funeral service for Mrs. Lena Massingill will be 10:00am Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Westmoreland Cemetery in the Crossroads Community.
