Mrs. Maggie Mae Eckert, age 90 of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Mrs. Eckert was born, Monday, August 20, 1923 in Okolona, Arkansas to Dewey and Jewell Harris Rutherford. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years of marriage at his death in 1995, William "Bill" Eckert, two sons; Tommy and Freddie Eckert, her four brothers; Johnie, Charles, Carl and T. D. Rutherford, a sister; Ruth West, two grandchildren; T.J. and Cindy Eckert and son-in-law, Phillip Coplen. Mrs. Eckert was a home maker, to which she took pride her home's appearance, in her cooking and take care of the needs of her family. She has been a member of Sycamore Church, near Whelen Springs since 1950. She is survived by her son, Joe Eckert, wife, Betty of Gurdon, her daughter; Nancy Coplen of Nacogdoches, Texas, sister; Betty Jo Rutherford of Little Rock, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Sycamore Church prior to the service. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 22, 2013 at Sycamore Church, near Whelen Springs. Bro. James McCain and Bro.
