Mrs. Margie Powell, 84, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away on December 10, 2010, at the Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was born Margie Miriam ONeal in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on December 23, 1925, to Ernest Paul and Norma Miriam ONeal. She moved with her family back to Hope, Arkansas, in 1928, where her father a Hope native and mechanical engineer, created Arkansas Machine Specialty Company. Margie was a 1944 graduate of Hope High School. She attended Texas State College for Women at Denton, Texas, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. On April 18, 1948, she married Kenneth V. Powell at the First United Methodist Church in Hope. Margie was a dedicated housewife and mother who supported her husbands Air Force career; following him during assignments to Arizona, Alabama and Washington, D.C., until he retired and they returned to Hope in 1971. She was a charter member of the Hope PEO chapter and remained a faithful member throughout her life. She loved music and was an enthusiastic member of the First United Methodist Church Choir in Hope. She was also a member of the Friday Music Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Colonel Kenneth V. Powell, USAF (Ret); her parents Ernest P. and Miriam ONeal, and her brother F. Paul ONeal. She is survived by three sons: Lloyd P. Powell and wife Joyce of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Kenneth V. Powell, Jr. and wife Greer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Michael P. Powell and wife Jan of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Four grandchildren: Chris Powell, Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Laura Powell, Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Sean Powell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Megan Powell of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at First United Methodist Church, Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.
