Mrs. Merarion Anthony Briggs, age 86, of Prescott, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Wadley Regional Hospital in Hope. She was born August 28, 1926, in Prescott to the late Perry and Leola Stokes Anthony. Mrs. Briggs was a life long homemaker and a member of Munns Chapel Baptist Church. Even though she had no children, many of the children in the surrounding area grew close to her heart and very fond of her cooking. She was an devoted wife, avid cook, very devoted fan of football and the Family Feud. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, L. S. Briggs, brothers, William Buddy Anthony, Grady Anthony, Perry Anthony, Jr. and Heredith Anthony, sisters, Hazel Anthony Reid and Ophelia Anthony Foster. Mrs. Briggs is survived by, brothers, Benjamin Anthony of Little Rock and Robert Anthony of Dallas, Texas, sisters, Perrine Anthony Franklin of Prescott, Barbara Anthony Box of Rockford, Illinois, Betty Anthony Murchison of Little Rock, Lillie Anthony Nimmer of Little Rock, nephews, Willard Franklin and Orlando Franklin of Prescott, and Reginald Franklin, Jr. III, of Dallas, Texas. Funeral service for Mrs. Briggs will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, October 23, at Munns Chapel Baptist Church in Prescott, Rev. Arthur Hill officiating, burial will follow at DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott.
