Mrs. Mildred A. Davis, 92 of Washington, AR passed away, Monday, April 9 at Serenity Inn in Kennedale, Texas. Mrs. Davis was born July 1, 1919 in Quitman, Arkansas to Roy C. and Alberta Brittain. She grew up in Hope, Arkansas and moved to Phoenix, Arizona around 1940 where she met and married Donald L. Davis. They married while he was serving in the US Navy. All three of their children were born in Phoenix, Arizona. The family moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1954. In 1989, she and Don moved to Washington, Arkansas to be near her brother, Jim Brittain. Don passed away in 1995 and she remained there until she suffered a major stroke in 2005. Her son, Oliver moved her to Arlington, Texas in order to better care for her. She is preceded in death by her parents; Roy C. and Alberta Brittain, her sisters; Juanita Faye Erenfejcht and Hattie Mae Flood, brother, R.C. Brittain and her husband, Donald L. Davis. She is survived by her oldest son, Oliver Davis of Arlington, TX, son, Donald L. Davis, Jr. and wife Lois of Des Moines, IA, daughter, Brenda Howe and husband, Larry of Surprise, AZ, brother, James Brittain and wife, Jean of Washington, AR, four grandchildren: James Craig Davis and wife Shawn of Newark, TX, Susan Lancaster, Michael Davis and wife Danielle of Kaufman, TX, Jenifer Davis of Des Moines, IA and 9 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Mission Hospice for the loving care she received for the past three years and for the care she received at Advent House/Serenity Inn for over six years. Graveside service will be 11:00am Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope.
