Mrs. Mildred McMillen, 82 of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Hope, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 with her loving daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was born July 31, 1929 to Bessie and Mike Poindexter. Mrs. McMillen was a lifelong resident of Hope, but the last months of her life were spent in Hot Springs. Mildred was well loved by her family and will be missed by us all. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, J.D. McMillen; her infant daughter, Betty Sue; four brothers, Morris, Floyd, Homer, and Harold Poindexter; and three sisters, Esther Holmes, Etta Sanders, and Victoria McMillen. Survivors include; her daughter and son-in-law, Jeri and Mike Hansen of Hot Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Debbie McMillen of Fayetteville; daughter, Deanie McMillen and Ron McKelvey of Bluff City; granddaughters, Amber McMillen of Fayetteville, Jesse Carvlin and Patrick of Hope, Katy Stone and Matthew of Leavenworth, Kansas, and grandson, Zach McMillen of Fayetteville. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Micah, Lilah, Kylen, Ayla, and Britton Wade and by three brothers; Jewell Poindexter, William and Wanda Poindexter, and Wilbur and Bobbie Jean Poindexter; niece, Betty Stovall and husband Calvin, and many other nieces and nephews. A Family graveside service will be 2:00pm, Friday, November 25, 2011 at Bodcaw #1 Cemetery. Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland will officiate. Memorials may be made to any no-kill animal shelter or local Humane Society.
