Norman Whitaker, Jr., 94, of Chapin passed away May 11, 2015. He was born on October 4, 1920 to the late Norman Whitaker, Sr. and Susan Tucker Whitaker. Norman grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Prescott High School, he attended the University of Arkansas and he was a lifelong Arkansas Razorback fan. Norman was active in the Methodist Church and served in the Pacific during WWII. Norman relocated for employment to Orange, TX, retired in Arkansas and spent the last 12 years of his life in South Carolina. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Norman is survived by daughter, Lucretia Few Whitaker of West Columbia, son, Norman Whitaker III, (Melanie) of Reston, VA, grandchildren, Nathan Whitaker (Andrea) of PA, David Whitaker of SC and Hannah Whitaker of SC and sister Margaret Whitaker Cochran. Norman was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Whitaker, son, William Lowndes Whitaker, brothers, P.D. Whitaker and Ben Whitaker. A private memorial graveside service will be held.
