Dr. Patsy Ann Griffin passed away on April 23rd of this year at the Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope, Arkansas under the care of Hospice. She was born October 28, 1936 in Gurdon to her parents James R. and Esther Griffin, both of whom are deceased. Dr. Griffin grew up in Prescott and attended high school there, graduating in 1954. She then attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas where she received a Master's degree in literature. She later attended University of Rochester in Rochester, New York and received a Ph.D. in Literature. She taught English and literature at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia for many years before returning to Prescott in 2004 where she made her home until her death. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Prescott. Dr. Griffin is survived by one son, Patrick Kelly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and one daughter, Eve Kelly Herman of New York, a sister, Pauline Hays and a brother, Bill Griffin, both of Prescott, Arkansas and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Liberty Cemetery in the Redland community on the 12th of May,at 11:00am with Father Rex Hays presiding.
