MR. PENNIX MONROE THRASH, JR., 79, Hope, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, at his home. He was born in Glenwood, Arkansas, December 28, 1931, to Pennix Monroe Thrash, Sr and Eddie Mae Smith Thrash. Mr. Thrash graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1949 and attended Hendrix College before graduating from the University of Central Arkansas in 1954. After moving back to Hot Springs, he owned Thrash Building Supply and served as President of the Home Builders Association. Mr. Thrash was a member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee and board member. He moved to Hope in 1978 and became co-owner of Tol-E-Tex Oil Company and later owned Thrash and Son Propane. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hope, where he served as Trustee, board member, and Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Thrash was past president of the Hope Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Oil Marketers Association. He was preceded in death by his parents. HIS SURVIVORS INCLUDE: His Wife of 57 Years: Myrl Fulbright Thrash, Hope, Arkansas. Daughter: Frances Thrash McAfee and Rick, Hope, Arkansas. Son: Tom Thrash and Courtney, Houston, Texas. Four Grandchildren: Kyle McAfee and Janna, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Blake McAfee, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Collin Thrash and Camille Thrash, Houston, Texas. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church, Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.
