Dr. Prince E. "Ed" Claybrook, age 91, of Hope, Arkansas passed away at his home, Friday, October 12, 2012. Dr. Claybrook was born March 4, 1921, in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Lyn and Sarah Skinner Claybrook. He held a Doctorate of Ministry and was a Southern Baptist Pastor for 69 years, serving as interim pastor for 32 churches and Director of Special Ministries for the Illinois Baptist State Association from 1979 thru 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the HarMenizers Quartet, both in Hope. Dr. Claybrook served his country as a soldier in the United States Army, serving in the European Campaign during World War II. He traveled the world as a Senior Adult Conference Speaker and Senior Adult Consultant for Lifeway Resources SBC. He was a contributor and writer for Open Windows Daily Devotional Book. Dr. Claybrook was a past member, President and Lt. Governor of Golden K. He was appointed to the Judicial Review Board by Governor Mike Huckabee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying and later in life his hobby became spending time working and communicating on his computer. Dr. Claybrook is survived by his wife of 69 years, Kathleen Dendy Claybrook of Hope, four sons, Dr. Douglass and Linda Claybrook of Terra Haute, Indiana, Dr. C. David Claybrook of St. Louis, Missouri, Gerry and Julie Claybrook of Scott, Arkansas and Les and Barbara Claybrook of Hope, Arkansas, a brother, William Lyn and Dottie Claybrook of Gloucester, Virginia, three sisters, Virginia Harrison of Manhattan, Kansas, Martha Tidwell of Morris Town, Tennessee, Mary Ann and Sam Haigis of Howe, Texas, 9 grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Claybrook of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ms. Kara Claybrook of West Terra Haute, Indiana, Patrick and Judy Claybrook of Irving, Texas, Jonathan and Aimee Claybrook of Wentzville, Missouri, Kyle and Pepper Claybrook of Nashville, Tennessee, Stephen and Camille Claybrook of Apex, North Carolina, Ben and Tiffany Claybrook of Gallatin, Tennessee, Robert Claybrook of Shreveport, Louisiana and Jeffrey and Chelsea Claybrook of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and sixteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, October 14, at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope. Funeral services for Dr. Claybrook, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, October 15, at First Baptist Church of Hope, Brother Mark Fischer officiating. Burial will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, October 16, at the Arkansas Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
