Rachel Gordon Scott, age 103 years, of Little Rock , passed away peacefully at Woodland Hills Healthcare and Rehabilitation facility on October 26, 2010, after a very full and remarkable life. Rachel Gordon was born on February 8, 1907 in Prescott , Arkansas to the late Alexander Allen and Mary Emma Glass Gordon. She was the youngest of seven children, the only child born in the 1900s. She was raised in the Prescott area until early adulthood. She attended the University of Arkansas in the 1920,s and majored in Art and Home Economics. She was a cheer-leader at the University and was a very talented water-color artist. Her deceased husband, Brad Scott, whom she married in 1928, was elected Captain of the Razorback football team and was named an honorable mention All American as well as an All Southwest Conference athlete. Brad was also inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1989. He and Rachel were married for 64 years. Rachel and Brad raised two daughters. The eldest was Helen Ruth Scott Manville who died in 2006; her surviving loving daughter, Mary Agnes Aggie Scott Parse, and husband Allan reside in Little Rock . Rachel had two grandchildren, Molly McDuffie and husband Dr. Scott McDuffie of Sumter , South Carolina , and Scott Manville and wife Karen of Brooklyn, New York, as well as four great-grandchildren, Drew and Parker McDuffie, and Kate and James Manville. Rachel was a long time member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and lived for over 45 years in the Hillcrest area of Little Rock . With the exception of the past few years, she was a very active person and was capable of driving her car well into her nineties. She was involved in many activities including church work and regular attendance at most Razorback games accompanied by Brad. She remains to be a very strong influence on her family and her word is well respected to this day. Throughout her life she was a very family-oriented person. At an age exceeding 103 years, she was indeed a remarkable woman. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday October 30, 2010 at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a graveside burial service in Prescott , Arkansas at the DeAnn Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. officiated by Reverend Daniel Kirkpatrick.
