Booker R. "Ray" Davis, age 83, of Hope passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, in Prescott, Arkansas. He was born on December 20, 1937, in Langley, Arkansas to Otis and Vercie Graves Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, an infant son, Roger, and a grandson, Jared Dearinger.

Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma Phillips Davis; daughter, Sherry Schmitt and husband, George, of Emmet; son, Darrell Davis and wife, Lisa, of Hope; grandchildren, Courtney Davis McNiel of Hope, Jacob Dearinger and wife, Jessica, of Hope, Callie Fore and husband, Chris of Laneburg and Cory Davis and wife, Jordan, of Little Rock, Keri Jackson and husband, Chris of Mena and Kayla Harmon of Texarkana; great grandchildren, Trulee and Saylor McNiel, Rowan Dearinger, Cole and Claire Fore, Aslynn Jackson, Kelsi Parmer and Kaylee Harmon.

Ray retired as a Sergeant with the Arkansas State Police in 1984 and was well known in the area for Trooper Doug the Talking Bug, an ASP program. "Pap" loved to tell his grandchildren stories of his law enforcement days keeping them entertained for hours. He was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Langley, where he enjoyed singing and song leading, and since moving to Hope, a member at Unity Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Monday, December 13, 2021 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 am on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Brazzel/Oakcrest with Bro. Donnie Davis officiating. Burial with Arkansas State Police Honor Guard to follow at Langley Hall Cemetery in Langley, Arkansas at 1 pm.
