Mr. Richard C. "Dick" Crews, age 88 of Hope, Arkansas passed away, Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his home. Mr. Crews was born in Curtis, Arkansas on June 6, 1926 to Claud and Eva Mae Porter Crews. Mr. Crews attended the Prescott Church of Christ in Prescott, Arkansas. He was retired from American Medical International Construction as an engineer; former owner of Home Insulation Company, Southwest Arkansas Window and Door in Hope and a US Army veteran serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Shirley Crews, his second wife, Flossie Crews, and a son, James Richard Crews. Mr. Crews was the former Hempstead County Republican Party Chairman for 12 years, former Vice-Chair of Hempstead County Election Committee for 12; former Southwest Regional Chair for the Republican Party for 8 years; and served on the Arkansas State Republican Party Executive Board for 8 years. Mr. Crews was also known as "Mr. Republican Party" of Hempstead County. He was a softball and baseball coach that dearly loved to coach children. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a true friend to all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Nita Crews of Hope, two sons; Bob Crews, wife; Gail of Heber Springs, and Kevin Crews, wife; Becca of Hope, four daughters; Carolyn Schobey of Ore City, TX, Linda Kay Adams, husband, Don of Sioux City, IA, Sandy Downs, husband, Mitch of Hope and Sarah Hale, husband, Danny of Texarkana, TX, two sisters; Bonnie Dulin, husband, Billy of Gurdon and Birdie Lou McFatridge, husband, Mack of Tyler, TX, 13 grandchildren and 29 Great-grandchildren; other family member and friends. Family visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00pm, Monday, December 29 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope. Funeral service, will be 10:00am, Tuesday, December 30 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope with Mr. Harley Sisson and Mr. Richard Allen officiating.
